Collaboration is key: Why it’s important to include learning and support partners on projects
The best projects bring together the right resources at the right time. In this session, participants will learn about why, when, and how to collaborate with learning and support partners as well as some of the pitfalls that occur when the right partners are not involved. Examples of projects with successful and unsuccessful collaboration efforts will be cited.
Event Objectives and/or Agenda:
– Define the typical roles that learning and support partners play in projects.
– Understand the value of creating collaborative project teams.
– List ways that learning and support activities can be incorporated into the overall project plan.
Dr. Shannon Alpert
Dr. Shannon Alpert has managed projects and programs for over 20 years. When she moved to Nashville in the summer of 2018, she promptly sought out the local PMI chapter. She earned her undergraduate degree in English, with a minor in secondary education and masters of science in instructional technology from Georgia State University in Atlanta. She spent the first 15 years of her career leading projects and teams responsible for creating learning and performance improvement solutions in the telecommunications and financial services industries. In addition to being a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Shannon earned her doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where the focus of her research was how projects are managed in academic settings. For the past 8 years, she has taught instructional design, organizational leadership, and project management for masters and doctoral students.
