September Luncheon – BUILDING THE FIRST “STEAMSHIP” IN HISTORY
September 20, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
About Event: This PMI-tailored presentation will show how Captain Rogers employed a variety of project management techniques to successfully complete this revolutionary vessel…nearly two centuries ago!
About Presenter: John Laurence Busch
John Laurence Busch is an independent historian who focuses upon the interaction between humanity and technology, with a particular specialization in the first generation of steam-powered vessels.
In early 2012, John achieved one of his long-term goals for the book, by initiating the return of two lost possessions of Savannah first mate Stevens Rogers. Missing for half-a-century, Steve’s snuff box and spyglass are now back where they belong, in the collections of the New London County Historical Society of Connecticut.
John has made over 300 presentations on Captain Rogers and the Savannah to a wide variety of audiences, stretching from Maine to Puerto Rico to California, and across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe.
