PMI Nashville June 2022 Luncheon Webinar – The Unique Skills Veterans Bring to Project Management

Summary of Event:

This presentation will help you develop an understanding of how the military provides Veterans with extensive project experience. This experience makes Veterans a great talent pool for project management. PMI Nashville’s Military Liaison, Arlie Haddix, will provide an introduction to PMI Nashville’s military outreach program and discuss best practices for working with, recruiting, and retaining Veterans.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will learn how to:

  •  Understand the value and unique skills that Veterans bring to the workplace.
  •  Build a Veteran-friendly culture.
  •  Create a lexicon of military resume terms,
  •  Discuss strategies for better aligning marketing and hiring practices to attract Veterans.
  •   Engage with and support PMI Nashville, Operation Stand Down Tennessee, and other military outreach programs.

About the Presenter:

Arlie Haddix, PMP

Arlie Haddix is the Chief Programs Officer at Operation Stand Down Tennessee.    Arlie is a retired United States Air Force intelligence analyst with extensive special operations experience.  A former flight, squadron and group commander, he has led small teams and large teams in multiple dynamic, complex, high-risk and high-stakes environments.  After 22 years of service and 13 deployments, Arlie retired from the Air Force in 2014, re-located to Nashville and began Vanderbilt’s MBA program. He completed the MBA program in 2016 and worked on a start-up with an MBA classmate throughout 2017.  Arlie obtained his PMP in 2019 and re-certified in 2021.  He also became the PMI Nashville Director of Military Outreach in 2021.  Arlie started at Operation Stand Down Tennessee in early 2018 and continues his passion – helping other Veterans transition into civilian life.
