Description

The Director of Sponsorships is a board-appointed volunteer responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to support chapter initiatives. This includes generating funding for chapter events, outreach efforts, and strategic programs through mutually beneficial relationships with corporate and community partners. The role collaborates closely with the marketing, communications, outreach, and finance portfolios to align sponsorship goals with the chapter’s annual strategic plan, PMI policies, and bylaws. This position is key in strengthening the chapter's visibility, credibility, and financial sustainability.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annual sponsorship strategy and detailed activity calendar, including outreach through email, events, press releases, and chapter web updates.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to promote sponsorship opportunities and showcase successful partnerships.
  • Coordinate with the communications portfolio to plan and purchase advertising, when applicable.
  • Analyze and optimize sponsorship and public relations activities in partnership with other chapter functions.
  • Foster collaboration with local businesses and academic institutions to raise awareness of PMI and the chapter.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with current sponsors to support ongoing chapter funding.
  • Build and lead a sponsorship team to engage effectively with sponsors and partners.
  • Ensure sponsorship efforts are aligned with the chapter’s financial strategy.
  • Work closely with the outreach team to identify and engage potential corporate sponsors.
  • Organize and deliver sponsorship presentations to prospective partners.
  • Provide regular sponsorship status updates to the chapter board.
  • Ensure all sponsor benefits and acknowledgments are communicated through appropriate channels (e.g., website, newsletters, social media).
  • Develop and implement a succession plan to ensure continuity in sponsorship efforts.
